Comic-Con 2011 To Feature Mass Effect Movie As Well As Some Superhero Sequels and Reboots

The movie panel line-up for this year’s Comic-Con event on Friday, July 22, has just been announced and it is looking to be quite epic.

It appears Sony Pictures will be headlining the event with the biggest Hall dedicated for the four movies they will be announcing. I’m sure you are all aware of the Spiderman reboot, which we have been teased about for some time now and this will be one of the biggest headliners at this year’s Comic-Con. Sony is bringing forth a Total Recall remake and we are very interested to see in what direction they will take with this film. It also looks like Nicholas Cage will be reprising his role as the flaming ghoul on a motorcycle, in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (fingers crossed they do it some justice!). The last picture Sony will debut will be the comedy-action film 30-Minutes or Less which is chalk full of some hilarious comedians.

The image on the right is from the set of The Amazing Spiderman with Andrew Garfield (playing Spiderman) as well as Chris Zylka playing the role of Curt Connors, better known as The Lizard.

The schedule for Sony’s event is as follows:

“The Amazing Spider-Man,” “Total Recall,” “30 Minutes or Less” and “Ghost Rider – Spirit of Vengeance”
4:00-5:30
Hall H
Who: “Spider-Man” will feature stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, and director Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer”). Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho and director Len Wiseman (“Underworld”) will talk up “Total Recall.” For “Ghost Rider,” we have Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba, and Johnny Whitworth, plus directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (the “Crank” films). The laughs will be provided by the “30 Minutes or Less” gang: Stars Aziz Ansari, Nick Swardson, and Michael Peña (no Jesse Eisenberg?) and director Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”).

What really caught our attention is the announcement for the Mass Effect movie which will be headed by Lengendary Pictures. For those unfamiliar with Mass Effect, it is an action role-playing game developed by the well respected BioWare team and puts players in the role of Commander Shepard, who sets out to explore the Galaxy in one bad-ass ship called the SSV Normandy. The game indulges your fascination with everything space related and gives you the freedom to play through the story and even shape it, through a multitude of dialogues and actions. To keep it short, the story for the game is magnificent and if done right will be a smash hit at the box offices.

Legendary Pictures’ schedule and information is as follows:

“Pacific Rim,” “Mass Effect,” Paradise Lost” and “Seventh Son”
12:45-1:45
Room 6BCF
Who: Jeff Bridges, Bradley Cooper, Guillermo del Toro, Ben Barnes, Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Alicia Vikander, Alex Proyas, Sergei Bodrov, Travis Beacham, Mark Protosevich, and Casey Hudson.
