Samsung Roadmap Rumors Debunked, We Are Dissapoint

The roadmap that apparently found its way to a Lithuanian retailer website yesterday has been confirmed to be false as Samsung steps in to set the record straight.

More after the break.

An official statement was made on Samsung’s own blog detailing the recent rumors.

“Some media have been reporting that Samsung is preparing to launch nine new smartphones and two new tablet devices. While Samsung is continuously working on new devices for our customers, the details being cited are not accurate in this case.

We appreciate the interest in our upcoming mobile devices and will share more information once its available.”

While we were excited to have details on the upcoming superphones from Samsung, it seems the devices we’ve listed before are inaccurate, but are they that far fetched? We know of the upcoming Nexus Prime device, which Samsung will be manufacturing from understood from earlier information. So we should be also expecting another device coming strictly from Samsung themselves to showcase the next iteration of Android software, Ice Cream Sandwich. As for the other devices they may not be too far-fetched considering the recent Qualcomm announcement for their newly rebranded series of devices which includes the Snapdragon System 2 (1.4GHz CPU, 1024 x 768 reso. display, Adreno 205 GPU).

It has yet to be determined what the Samsung Hercules device will incorporate whether it be a Qualcomm, Samsung’s own Exynos, or even a Tegra-2 chipset. Until an official announcement has been made, there’s no telling what Samsung will decide on.

Qualcomm’s 4 Rebranded Chipset Families:

  • Snapdragon System 1 (65nm, up to 1.2GHz CPU, Adreno 200 GPU, up to 3G HSPA),
  • Snapdragon System 2 (45nm, up to 1.4GHz CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, HSPA+, 1024 x 768 display, 720p recording, Dolby 5.1, stereoscopic 3D)
  • Snapdragon System 3 (45nm, up to 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, Adreno 220 GPU, HSPA+, 1440 x 900 display, 1080p recording, Dolby 5.1, stereoscopic 3D)
  • Snapdragon System 4 (28nm, up to 2.5GHz quad-core CPU, up to quad-core Adreno GPU, HSPA+, LTE) [2012 Release]
